Women into STEM Colloquiums
Women into STEM Colloquiums – took place on International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Feb. 11
The EURECA-PRO alliance is aware of the key importance of raising visibility of STEM (‘Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics’) knowledge areas, especially encouraging the interest of young girls for STEM.
For this purpose, a series of fifteen minute online, interactive, dynamic talks was presented to 15-18 year old students coming from 10 different secondary schools from Greece, Romania, Austria, Poland and Spain.
The 3 sessions were held on and around the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which is February 11, as declared by the United Nations General Assembly in order to achieve full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls, and further achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
Along the three sessions, the 600 connected students received information by 9 lead researchers coming from the EURECA-PRO institutions on the practical application of several STEM topics related to everyday life. The preliminary female researchers recounted their personal career paths into STEM and the various fields the STEM fields offer to the students.
