TUC’s Science and Technology Day
“Thelma Mavridou”
Saturday 2nd of November, 2024 | Science Building @ the University Campus
On Saturday 02 November 2024, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., TUC’s EURECA-PRO team (staff and student ambassadors) will be hard at work at the Science Building at the University Campus, engaging young children in various interactive, playful and bilingual activities exploring RCP and the EURECA-PRO Alliance as part of the Science and Technology Day “Thelma Mavridou”.
The Science and Technology Day event “Thelma Mavridou” is addressed mainly to primary school children and is organized for the eighth year with a renewed program and new actions for “little scientists”. This is the largest extrovert activity of the Technical University of Crete, during which children, under the supervision of experienced collaborators and volunteer students, will perform a variety of experiments with impressive or even “magical” results. At the same time, they will be able to attend demonstrations of technological applications using research models and tools of the Technical University of Crete.
The event features activities and kiosks from laboratories and research teams from all the Schools of the Technical University of Crete, supported by many volunteer students, who ensure it will run smoothly.
The Science and Technology Day “Thelma Mavridou” is an experiential educational experience based on respect for natural sciences and engineering, in the spirit of STEM educational activities (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). The interactive activities implemented help to “discover” new knowledge with the ultimate goal of cultivating research mood and attitude in primary school children.
