RE-REURECA-PRO Project Week @ University of Petrosani

Between October 30th and November 2nd, University of Petrosani hosted the RE-EURECA-PRO Project Week, bringing together over 100 high school pupils and 20 students who actively participated in a series of engaging activities. These activities included visits to various specialized laboratories and the university campus, providing valuable hands-on experiences.
The students explored:
- The Ecopedology Laboratory, where they conducted microscopic analyses of bioindicators used to monitor pollution stemming from activities in large combustion plants;
- The Ecology and Environmental Protection Laboratory, where they performed water, air, and soil analyses and examined the presence of specific pollutants in fruits and vegetables;
- The Environmental Laboratory, which showcased various types of industrial waste and discussed potential recovery methods;
- The Geology Laboratory, offering insights into a diverse collection of minerals and rocks;
- A visit to the university campus to explore accommodation facilities and recreational/sports opportunities.
PRESENTATIONS
In addition to these informative visits, the participants also had the opportunity to attend a series of insightful presentations:
- Presentation by Professor Robert Prodanciuc on “Gender and Discrimination“;
- Presentation by Professor Emilia Dunca on “Circular economy in the valorisation of contaminated sites“;
- Presentation by Professor Sabin Ioan Irimie about EURECA-PRO and RE-EURECA-PRO project to both high school students and students.
