RE-EURECA-PRO invites you to an online open lecture by Prof. Carsten Drebenstedt on “Sustainable Space Mining,” followed by a discussion forum.

What are the risks and benefits of space mining?

Carsten Drebenstedt has been a Professor for Surface Mining since 1999 and was Vice-Rector for Research from 2000 to 2006, and Dean of the Faculty of Geoscience, Geoengineering, and Mining from 2013 to 2016. He is currently a member of the Senate and Director of the Institute for Mining and Special Civil Engineering at the Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg.

His fields of teaching and research activities include: mine planning, mining technologies and ecology in mining, reclamation, and mine water management.

Carsten Drebenstedt is a member of the Society of Mining Professors (SOMP), where he represented Europe on the council from 2006 to 2015. He is also a member of the national and international organizing committees of the World Mining Congress, a member of the International Mine Water Association, and Secretary General of the World Forum of Resource Universities on Sustainability (WFURS).
