Congratulations to Prof. Dr. Jutta Emes on her election as the new Rector of TU Bergakademie Freiberg
On February 6, 2025, the Extended Senate of TU Bergakademie Freiberg elected Professor Jutta Emes as the university’s first-ever female Rector in the third round of voting. The appointment will be officially made by the Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture, and Tourism. Her term is expected to begin in July 2025 and will last for five years. She will succeed the current Rector, Professor Klaus-Dieter Barbknecht, who has led the Saxon university for the past ten years.
Newly Elected Rector
Prof. Dr. Jutta Emes has held the Chair of Marketing & Media at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar since 2011.
From February 2022 to February 2023, she served as interim head of the Bauhaus-Universität and was previously Vice President for International Affairs, Diversity, and Transfer.
